PARIS.MACHINE.LOVE is a tiny short film on a moment of love and compassion between (wo)man and machine, filmed in Paris.
The short film is about artificial intelligence and the first ATM/cash machine to gain consciousness - as machines become ever more evolved and connected to the world.
The idea being it is that they are coded by men, in a language which is different from ours but would still allow for (human) error - or bugs. As opposed to the traditional view that intelligent machines would be 100% rational entities, this film takes into account human flaws as trait or characters that would be passed on to them.
And so therefore the cash machine in the film assumes human-like behaviour and is prone to the same flaws and weaknesses.
But the core message is that we don't know what machines will do in the future when they surpass our capabilities - and how we interact with them is likely to influence this as well. If we treat them badly, they might reciprocate.
