Leah is a character profile short that was filmed on-location at the City Methodist Church, located in Gary Indiana, it’s one of the best known and most popular Midwest locations for movie crews, indie films, music video's and photographers.

Leah Shortell is an independent documentary filmmaker and photographer from Chicago, Illinois. She has traveled the world for her work, visually capturing life and culture one frame at a time. She graduated in 2012 with a Masters of Fine Arts in Independent Film and Digital Imaging, and currently teaches digital film and speech courses at Saint Xavier University in Chicago.

An exciting launch video for the new Morgan Aero 8 sports car. Hand crafted in Britain using traditional materials and techniques passed down from generation to generation. Filmed and edited by Michael Smith.

After 5 years since their Fat Beats full length debut, Eternia & MoSS return with "Day & Night". Featured on MoSS's album "Marching to the Sound of My Own Drum", MoSS provides a hypnotizing and haunting sonic backdrop as Eternia struggles between spirit and flesh in her signature soul-excavating style. "Day & Night" explores the war going on inside every person, for "what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do" (St. Paul). The outcome of the battle is left unknown, as Eternia's chorus prays, "Don't let the sun set on me..." Director Ian Johnson cinematically explores themes of darkness vs. light, lust, and the multiplicity of one being. The visuals, as hypnotizing as MoSS's production, also pays homage to MoSS's psychedelic classic rock musicality in the colouring, editing, and aesthetic styling.

A story of a young woman in the 1940's finding her confidence to become a jazz singer

A couple struggles for words in a difficult situation.

No Assignment is part of the short film series 'Some Call It Home', which explores the world's last wild places with those who call them home. In this piece, we spend a day with Wildlife Photographer Tom Murphy who has been shooting Yellowstone for over 40 years. But assignments aren't his thing, so he's constantly searching for something different to set his work apart.

This mini documentary takes a look in to the world of independent film making, and is a must watch for any one involved with, getting started in or just has a passing interest in film making. An alternative title for it could have been "How a couple of guys set up an Oscar nominated production company from nothing." It shows that there truly is "no set path" to success when it comes to film making, although there are a number of important traits, like passion, determination and high standards that certainly do help.

Jon Drever who is the co-founder and co-owner of Grain Media and a friend of mine very kindly let me into his professional world and spoke candily and honestly, allowing me to relive his journey in film making from very humble beginnings to running the extremely successful independent production company Grain Media. Its been an honour to be able to create something that hopefully goes some way to showing this inspirational journey.

Over the last few months I've been caught between moments of great joy and moments of deep frustration. Being a creative and trying to find your way in this world has never been easy, and lately, it seems like there are a million ways to succeed or fail. At a time when I needed it most, a very wise friend shared this quote with me from Marianne Williamson: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light

Epic wedding day with a little wakeboarding

A short film that explores three points of view of three different characters.
This short is an experience, where it should be produced each part of the plot in 60 seconds.

This film was shot on a Canon 6D over the course of four days in Caxias do Sul, Brazil, with Canon lenses. The color grade was done in FilmConvert Pro and was based on variations of FJ 8543 VD LUT.
