Extension of the Soul - Isabel Kooring

Support Isabel her dream with a contribution to support her daily journey to school: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fulfil-isabel-s-dancing-dream#/story

Isabel is four years old when she makes her first dance moves in her pink tights and leotard. From that moment on her days are filled with dance and ballet. Now, almost twelve years later, there is happiness but also a deeper desire to dance professionally one day.

Isabel is 15 years old and in the third year of HAVO/VWO for Music and Dance (HMD) Codarts in Rotterdam. In addition to her regular courses, she follows at least 20 hours of dance lessons per week. She works long days and so far, has travelled 3.5 times around the world by bus and train to her dance training already. And this is just the beginning.

Every morning at half past seven Isabel gets on the bus. That’s the beginning of her one and a half hour daily journey to Rotterdam. She works hard for her big dream every day!

fire

Fire, pure Energy, excitable and impetuous, an egocentric element, which requires trust and liberty to handle, jugglers, like grown children, live their emotions and offer them in a generous manner, in a Gothic contest which hypnotizes the spectator. Slow-motion helps the heightened control and great sensitivity of the artists to be perceived and makes evident that which escapes notice at normal speed. “Fire” the magic of fire. Forest of Buildings

This is a short narrative, with no dialogue, that I shot and edited in 5 hours during a trip in Seoul, Korea. The title of the short narrative is presented in Korean and English. 빌딩숲 translates as a forest of buildings. During the second day of my visit, I spent most of the day with little human interaction. I did this in order to intentionally drive my mental state (life condition) in to the composition of each scene.

While walking around Seoul, I was in awe of the dense and massive landscape. Skyscrapers endlessly filled my field of view. I felt as if I was in a dream world. The more I embraced my surrounds, the more I found myself seeking what was lacking.

Gerry Visco

There's something about Gerry...

She's charismatic, beautiful in a classic Hollywood way, and quite possibly a genius. It's this combination of brilliance and creativity that often burns people out early in life. The mesmerizing thing about Gerry - is that it hasn't.

It's for all these reasons that the first episode of "Bright Light, Tiny City" is about Geraldine Winifred Visco.

Ghosts & Empties

Ghosts and Empties is part of a continuing series of films titled Zones of Change, exploring themes surrounding the disjointed development of the Thames Gateway region. Using sound, and moving image to act as a portal to read and experience the landscape, this film explores the Gateway region at night. At night the edgelands come alive. The drab grey exteriors of warehouses become bathed in light, sodium, fluorescent and LEDs, in a shifting hue of yellows, reds, ochre’s, greens and blues. Arterial roads are given over to tankers and ‘artics’, ferrying goods and fuel from giant out of town distribution centres. Boy racers in souped up hatch backs tear apart the still air, bass carrying for miles, engines screaming for respite, wheels screeching for purchase on the damp asphalt. Nightclub patrons are ejected onto the street, bleary eyed and wrestling with gravity, Cigarettes are lit, drinks regurgitated, vivid colours splash. Sirens pierce the void. ‘The scale of expansion of the ‘night

Greycoats - Foshay

http://bradenlee.com • http://twitter.com/braden_lee

FOSHAY draws inspiration from the first skyscraper west of the Mississippi, the Foshay Tower, and the man behind the spire.

In his younger years, Wilbur Foshay was an art student with a fond appreciation for the Washington monument. "It is beautiful, but with windows it would be useful." He made his fortune buying public utilities and selling the stocks, using his money to fulfill a lifelong dream.

Completing the tower in 1929, Foshay invited 25,000 guests to an elaborate three-day dedication ceremony. Cabinet members, senators and congressman received all-expenses paid trips. Half-nude dancers entertained. The military gave 19-gun salutes. Each guest received a gold pocket watch. John Philips Sousa conducted music, including a march he wrote just for the occasion.

Two months later, Sousa's $20,000 check bounced. The market crashed. Foshay lost everything. Including the towe
