Music Video for Pelo Madueño, "Quiero que seas tu"

I recorded this one shot video with the Rainbow Girls in November of 2016. We wanted the video to be an intimate performance with an "old photo album" look that the FilmConvert Provia provided so nicely. With its warm, neutral, almost wooden feel brings you into the performers space. I wanted this video to be primarily to be about the performance, music, and art direction. Hopefully leave it as "Raw" as possible. But I love color! So I shot it in a "flat" picture profile Slog3 Sgamut3 knowing I could bake in the color later with some tasty FilmConvert and gain a little extra dynamic range by doing so. I recorded the music on a Zoom H6 using a Sterling Audio ST-69 condenser mic and preamp with no post manipulation, just gain trimmed at the recorder. I hope ya'll enjoy. Keep up the excellent work. To celebrate the release of Petrichor's second album, Narisshu, we wanted to create a very simple looking, one-take music video that every time the camera looks away, the setup builds. The video was filmed inside what is now subSine | Academy of Electronic Music in Glasgow just before it was built into so we had a very tight window in which we could film the video. We came up with the concept, built the set, filmed and dismantled everything within a 12 hour period with a core team of 3 (and a few extra helpers during filming) and almost no budget. This video is based on a single camera footage I did, watching Saint Agnes live at the Finsbury Pub in London. The rough clips were so inspiring, I decided to edit a videoclip for the band's latest single 'Sister Electric'. The video contains footage from different songs, also still captures, my brother did during the gig and some graphic art I found on the band's website. The main goal was to edit it like a multi camera videoclip, however it was recorded by one camera so you might notice some differences. I've put as much psychedelic 'trash' style including the FilmConvert film stock LUTs as I could to be loyal to a killer psychedelic rock band! This track gave me a vintage but happy feeling, so I wanted more of that flat Pulp Fiction look. Therefore, I purposely filmed it in harsh light when the sun was beaming by the water with no tall high rise building in the way.. So I went I used the Film Convert Nitrate as a base, FJ Prov 100 for its warm look and cranked up the color temperature. I added some finishing touches with to smooth the colors out with a lutify in lumetri.

Alternating memories of past summer's girlfriends.

A music video we filmed in two days, filming in Prespa was incredible, especially at the abandoned hotel “Evropa”. Although the flames were not planned in the shoot, we came up with that shot on the road and I’m glad we did them.

Should the Gods deem me worthy of fatherhood, I have vowed to some day name my first daughter, ‘Morenike’ (moe-re-knee-ke). The name ‘Morenike’, in Yoruba means ‘I have found one to cherish’ and is usually bestowed upon a much sought after female child. Taken from my sophomore album ‘Adesiji’, the song has thus far turned out to become a favorite among fans and connoisseurs alike.

In a traditional Yoruba naming ceremony, a number of choice ingredients, among them; Salt, Honey, Peppercorns, Water and Kola nuts, are used as symbolic gestures in prayer, so that the child’s life may in turn be sweet, adventure filled, self sufficient, healthy and tasteful.

I'd always loved Scorsese's Taxi Driver particularly the scene in which the protagonist, Travis Bickle drives his cab around the mean and seedy streets of New York city's Times Square.

Taking a cue from this timeless classic, I sought to take in and showcase the grittier side of Lagos in line with the songs candid lyrics. My kinsman and co-producer, Ade Bantu was on hand to capture me singing my heart away in the cramped backseat of our gypsy cab as it snaked its way past police check points, busy market streets, grinding traffic, admiring fans and petty traders, all of which make up this colorful and manic metropolis.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Las Gidi (Lagos) in all it's rugged and funky technicolor glory. Kindly enjoy and share.
