By Davis JansonsThree surfers from Kaua`i set out to bring clean water to the people of Indonesia while on a surf trip. After arriving in Indo they learn it's much more difficult to make a difference then they initially thought. Through equal parts persistence and luck they are able to join a student project from Australia who've developed a teaching tool that could save hundreds of lives. The team, with the help of Surfaid Sumba test the project and discovers the key to creating lasting sustainable change. In the end they learn how a small group of people can contribute and make a big improvement in a worldwide problem.
By Elliot LucasJust before leaving to New York my fist video camera Canon C100 mkII arrived. While flying there I found that song from Al Green, which was all the time in my head. When I arrived on airport I saw many people on phones and I decided to make this short.

Spontaneously filmed during family holidays in the South of France. Therefore no chance to make fancy tripod or Glidecam shots... Good thing there was a boat though! I was crazy enough to film EVERYTHING in Magic Lantern RAW on my 5D Mark III, to improve my post workflow and to capture less redundant footage, with only 32GB per day. Had to buy a new hard drive after a few days. DNG sequence calibrated to VisionLOG, exported as ProRes422 HQ, cut in Premiere and finally graded in After Effects with FilmConvert. Amber Arifeen is an artist from Pakistan, studying in London. Her feminist practice combines her experience growing up in Pakistan with her previous career and study in International Development, examining the modern concept of self and identity for women globally. Shot/directed and edited/graded by Dominick Soar. Shot in Canon C200 raw, with Canon 17-55mm and graded with FilmConvert.
By Mr Dominick SoarThe confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was politically divisive, but Walt Whitman's 19th century wisdom is timeless. In 1892, the poet wrote in prose: "I have sometimes thought, indeed, that the sole avenue and means of a reconstructed sociology depended, primarily, on a new birth, elevation, expansion, invigoration of woman." Towards the end of his life in 1888, he added "America" to his collection "Leaves of Grass," and then recited four lines from the poem, onto a wax cylinder recording, before he died (it is the only record of his voice in existence): "Centre of equal daughters, equal sons, All, all alike endear’d, grown, ungrown, young or old, Strong, ample, fair, enduring, capable, rich, Perennial with the Earth, with Freedom, Law and Love" And the written poem proceeds to say: "A grand, sane, towering, seated Mother, Chair’d in the adamant of Time." This poetry film combines my documentation of the minutes after Kavanaugh's confirmation,

By James PooleAnthracite is the most valuable coal. With my camera, I submerged into an old mining tunnel near my hometown of Osnabrück in western Germany. The "Hasestollen" was laid out between 1853 and 1856. The tunnel was excavated and opened to the public in 1997. The point of the film is LIFE. Workers might lost their lives doing their work, but ... there is still life where there is light down there. With the soundtrack I also made this life audible. A film by Wolfgang D. Schott – graded with filmconvert

By Alan MarinoNorway wants to give Finland a mountain for its birthday. Bjørn Geirr Harsson is facing an uphill legal battle for an arctic mountain-sized birthday present between neighboring countries. Bjørn, a retired geophysicist of the Norwegian Mapping Authority, had an idea to fix an anomaly along the border between Norway and Finland, and give Finland what would be its tallest mountain for it’s 100th birthday. Considering the tumultuous history of international boundaries, this would be an unprecedented show of kindness between countries. But how exactly does one give away a mountain?
