I have been wanting to try colour grading for a long time now but despite having Cinestyle installed for months, I've never fully known how to go about doing it. So after some research I have finally given it a try with my 600D and Cinestyle by Technicolor installed.

Something I noticed is that due to the limited bitrate of the 600D, some footage can be destroyed by compression making it look worse than it did originally but looking online, cameras such as the GH4, Sony A7S don't have this issues thanks to the higher bitrate.

I hope to get my hands on a GH4 eventually and see the difference for myself. Not only that but the internal 4K recording of the GH4 too.

after spending a lot of time during my career in Film to tape sessions i must say: some of those looks come really close to the feel of 35" film.

went with some friends to check out this abandoned location for an upcoming video, and it seems to look like a house or some type of isolated hotel. There were some cool textures, so I decided to grab my t3i and get some footage. Also decided to slap on some film convert for that organic film look and have this shot in 3.55:1 anamorphic widescreen. I do not own the music. the track is called Dark Sanctuary by les memoires blessees

A documentary based on the reporting of journalist Sam Quinones on the murder of transgender woman, Nathan "Cassidy" Vickers on November 17th, 2011 in Hollywood California.

We hope this project will help increase awareness and eliminate the senseless violence committed against the Transgender community.

Music Documentary about My latest Trip Film in Catalunya - Spain

Category Six or CAT 6 racing or refers to commuter cyclists who race one another during their commutes to work. Category Six racing starts when a stranger riding a bike tries to pass another cyclist and the other cyclist speeds up rather than let them pass. This creates an impromptu "CAT 6 race."

CAVALLO is a short portrait about my father. He is a 71-year-old horse rider. Horse riding has been his passion for over 50 years now. As an experienced rider he gives us a brief glimpse of what he thinks is the essence of riding.

Central Boarding Academy (CBA) is an English immersion and college preparatory program for international students who want to study at private schools in the U.S. They reached out to us to tell their story because they wanted a film to premier in China that would show parents all the great work they're doing in Oshkosh, WI. CBA's students attend academically challenging classes with American students, participate in after school activities, and live in the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UWO) campus dormitory where they have group tutors whom help expand their knowledge in the evening. We had one main goal for this video: to show a "worldly" view. By traveling with the students on their adventures through Chicago — we were able to accomplish that.

My brother bought this sweet Chevrolet Impala from 1971 a while back and ever since we wanted to make a video with it. It's such a beautiful car, that you just have to do something with on film.
We're playing with the idea of creating a longer narrative project with a story and I wanted to test out some shots/styles, mainly driving shots from the outside.
I sort of missed the first wave of the Film Convert hype, but I just bought the Plugin for FCP X and it is really lovely. It takes the Sony FS100 digital look completely out of the image and makes it very organic. I've been playing with different looks, but I quite like the one in this video (Details at the end).
I used the fabulous F&V Lighting Z180s to light my brother inside the car. I used the diffusion filter with the CTO to create a warm hair light and just added some fill from the front to expose him more against the background.

I shot on a Panasonic GH4 in 4k with a Baby Hypergonar anamorphic lens. I used Olympus Zuiko Pen F lens as my taking lens (38mm F1.9, 70mm F2 and the 100mm F3.5). I used a custom Baby Hypergonar Jacket from Redstan.com with 2 Tokina +0.4 achromatic diopters and a Narumi +3 diopter for close up shots.

Edited in Adobe Premiere and colored with Magic Bullet Colorista III and Film Convert

A little short I made using the Sony a7S, using nothing but available light.

Captured internally using S-Log2 (for the night scenes) and Cine Gamma 4 w/S-Gamut color (for daytime).

Daylight scenes were shot using around ISO 100-200, while nighttime shots ranged from ISO 3,200-12,800. The low light sensitivity of this camera opens up new doors that were previously shut with other similarly sized camera platforms, and the results are pretty incredible. While I've found that the image tends to get a bit noisy in the dark areas around ISO 12,800 (for my taste), by throwing on your denoising plugin of choice, you can mostly be rid of digital noise and walk away with a clean and detailed image.

Using the outdoors Stramash aims to make a real and lasting positive difference to the lives of children and young people in Scotland. One of the ways we do this is through apprenticeships for young people. The apprenticeships provide paid employment, skills training and personal development opportunities for young people. This video gives a glimpse of the differences we are making to these young people.
