A Day With A Midwife 1080p 2015 version

This is a freshly color corrected and slightly edited version of a film I did 5 years ago. I used Premiere Pro CC and FilmConvert.

The story takes place in India, with a group of women who are training to become midwives. This film shows snippets of a typical day at a maternity hospital.

This is my first film, made in documentary style as a promo for YWAM Perth's healthcare schools and ministries. Shot mostly with a Canon 7D though there are a few a 5D MK II shots as well.

A Day With A Pole Dancer

There’s a lot of prejudice about pole dance, but through the words of the italian instructor Valentina Venditti we’ll discover what’s really behind this discipline: training, study and sacrifice. We'll also understand how pole dance can be a cure-all both for body and soul. I produced this mini doc to take part at ‘My Rode Reel 2017’ competition but also to measure myself with something totally unknown to me. Here's the link if you want to vote me: https://www.rode.com/myrodereel/watch/entry/3266 Shot on: Panasonic GH4, Panasonic LX100 Lenses: Voigtlander Nokton 25mm f0.95, Olympus Zuiko 12mm f2.0, Leica Summulux 24-75 1.7-2.8 Editing: Final Cut Pro X Color correction: Colorista Color grading: Filmconvert - IL D400 (Temperature 5600, Film Color 100, Curve 100, Grain 20, Saturation 100) + KD TMx 100 (Temperature 5600, Film Color 50, Curve 100, Grain 0, Saturation 100) Location: Pole House Torino - Corso Regio Parco 39 10152 Torino (https://it-it.facebook.com/polehousetorino)

A Girl and Her Horse

I remember you, all of you. The picture isn't always of the whole you, but of pieces joined together, a palimpsest of experience. You are complete, but in my own way. The way I see you. I remember how it felt to move my fingers through your hair, and to put my palm to your lean muscles. Each movement gave me something important. And I will always remember how you made me feel. Her last ride. That is what she wanted captured. She asked us to create a film that encapsulated her bond with her best friend. No directing. Just a simple ride. Her last ride.

If you care for someone with Alzheimer's disease or dementia, you’re dealing with the loss of a person you loved while you also come to terms with the person that remains. A Life on the Line

WARNING: THIS FILM CONTAINS GRAPHIC CONTENT THAT MAY BE OFFENSIVE TO SOME VIEWERS.

"A Life on the Line" is an exploratory film; it follows a weekend on a trapline with my father in May, 2014. He explains, how trappers have a deep connection to the wild and how just being in the woods is often the greatest reward for those who continue in this traditional way of life.

I don't wish to glamorize the harvesting of animals, I merely wish to shed some light on a lifestyle that my ancestors thrived on and, that for all intents and purposes created the country of Canada.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email them to me at sam@iceriverfilms.com

This film was shot in the Duck Mountain Provincial Forest in western Manitoba, over a warm and blizzardy weekend in May. It was shot entirely on a Canon C100 with a wide variety of lenses, most notably, a Dog Schidt FF58. It was edited entirely in Adobe Premiere and graded with

a midwestern palette: angela venarchik

angela venarchik is a ceramic artist living on lake michigan in chicago. her work is minimal and neat, placing an emphasis on form and function rather than image or decoration. mainly inspired by the landscape of the prairie state and the great lakes, the wide-open spaces of the plains are expressed through clean and minimal design. she works in a color palette that reflects golden native grasses, stormy summer skies, snow-covered urban landscapes and the saturated blues of lake michigan. each piece carries a deep, clear sense of place. angela's work is a celebration of design, craftsmanship & midwestern life. we spent two days with angela, documenting her processes and bringing those back to the places in which the work was inspired.

A Nordic Skater

A Nordic Skater is a very first film about this little known sport. It features Per Sollerman, a photographer who has been skating on frozen lakes and fjords for the past 10 years. During 6 captivating minutes, the viewer is transported to the region of Oslo to have a peek at a story of a man who uses every sense he has to travel on thin ice. Per tells the story of how the little known sport of nordic skating came to play a big part in his life. “It is rooted deep in our bones that we need to be out in the nature,” he says. Directed, shot and edited by Paulius Neverbickas. Music and sound design by Luca Nioi. Design by Magdalena Mrowiec. It’s been 14 years since I last visited my homeland of Trinidad. A lot has changed since then. I didn’t have much time during my 3 day visit starting late Boxing day evening 2015 but I wanted to catch a flavour, a taste of Trinidad. I wanted to give a taste of some of my favourite food and the places that helped shape my memories... Until the next time. A Woman's Calling

Doomadgee women look beyond themselves, rekindling a sense of purpose by helping Papua New Guinean women in extreme poverty. This documentary was a journey of exploration for the heart of our story, Veronica. This story lives in two locations, Doomadgee, Australia, a remote indigenous community and Mabaduan, Papua New Guinea, an even more remote coastal community. Our team consisted of an international team (director from USA, DP & Cinematographer from Canada), while our subjects were from a remote indigenous community in the far north west Queensland, Australia and our travel took us to an incredibly remote village in Papua New Guinea. Film Convert was our primary tool for grading and added the essential emotional theme.
