The Sea & Me

Being inspired by the boats and their markings, the story grew once I met John Booker, a local fisherman. John’s weathered ‘nothing defeats me’ attitude gave me inspiration to create this short film showing the effort it takes him to get the boat to the sea and gives an insight to his long standing connection with the deep blue.

A Taste Of Trinidad

It’s been 14 years since I last visited my homeland of Trinidad. A lot has changed since then. I didn’t have much time during my 3 day visit starting late Boxing day evening 2015 but I wanted to catch a flavour, a taste of Trinidad. I wanted to give a taste of some of my favourite food and the places that helped shape my memories... Until the next time. Places: Trinidad, Port of Spain, Mayaro, Guayaguare, Petit Valley, Maracus Bay, Las Cuevas, San Fernando. The music is from an ongoing Production Library project with Trinidadian pan man Kyron Akal also based in London. The Most Haunted Island in the World

Poveglia has had a VERY tumultuous history. Its first residents arrived in 421 AD after trying to escape the barbaric invasions of Venice and around the 9th century, the tiny island became densely populated and grew in importance. It later became the turf on which many wars were fought against the barbarians and while most were won, Poveglia's residents had to be permanently displaced in 1379 by the Venician government so it could fortify and use the island to counter the attacks of the Genoans. When the bubonic plague hit Venice in 1348, Lazzarettos (quarantine centers) were established on many small islands including Poveglia to try to contain the pandemic. The Black Death revisited Venice in 1462, 1485, 1506, 1575-1577, and 1629-1631. The 1629-1631 outbreak ended up being the deadliest with an estimated 80,000 deaths in just seventeen months. The islands surrounding Venice were becoming dump sites where victims were thrown into grave pits. Those who simply displayed symptoms didn't

Stop Harassment

silent film documentary From Pakistan, This is the message for girls who have been tortured by “so called” lovers roaming around streets, to all the roadside Romeos that if a woman steps out of her house, it doesn’t mean that you own her. It doesn’t mean that she is trying to impress you. If you find her attractive, it doesn’t mean that she is now your property. Those were the days when I was only 13 and afraid to go out of the house even with my family. I knew if I would step out and he would be standing right there to give me horrendous look. Who was he? I had no idea. He was a man of almost 25 who always welcomed me with a luring gaze. I was scared because I just didn’t want some stranger to stop me in the street, and it was the scariest moment for me when he stopped me. He claimed that he loved me and threatened that if I would reject his proposal he would make my life like a hell. In those three years there wasn’t a single day when he was not in the street. After sharing the

my grand-aunt mimi.

My grand-aunt Mimi asked if I could help her share the story of her life. Something like this is impossible to give justice in an 8 minute piece, but all I can hope is that the enormous amount of life that she had in her soul is apparent to all of those who watch this. I was fortunate to be able to finish the film and travel back to Washington in early July to show the film to Mimi at her beloved cabin on Whidbey Island. Unfortunately, a little over a month later Mimi had a sudden illness followed by a stroke with several complications, she passed away on September 26th, 2016. In this moment, Mimi would prefer us celebrate her life, rather than be saddened by her death. So, here's to Mimi! I hope this film encourages those who see it to take a moment and capture a story from one of their elders on whatever media is available. The worth of these stories is invaluable and life can take sudden, unexpected turns. Love you Mimi.
