From the flower shop, through out the city and the never ending wait till the girl comes, little unfortunate events take place and the beautiful bouquet of flowers get trashed until the last moment. This proof of concept video is an excerpt from the novel 'Before the Strand' by Amanda Raymond. Before the Strand is the story of Sherlock Holmes' son and the mystery surrounding what happened his real mother, why his existence was erased from history, and what dangers existed and still do, that forced his father to hide him away with the son of Charles Darwin. Jonathan Holmes must face his past and his father's past, in order to find the answers.

Tech Note: I used Film Convert to give it that cinematic look.

Shot on RED One MX for 168 Film Festival 2011. Made in one week (shooting, editing, sound, music).

The movie shows a love story between a couple in which the girl dies because of a car accident, leaving the guy devastated, leading him into substance abuse. Then we see a different perspective as this time it is the girl who has to deal with the suffering of losing her boyfriend and the consequences that his death had on her. The Blue necklace that the boyfriend gave the girl represents the memory that each of them had of the other.

278 West 113 Street is where Harry Houdini resided, just down the block from Morningside Park. Who’s Afraid to Listen to Red, Black and Green by artist Kevin Beasley is a series of three installations, each featuring a color of the African-American flag. The “acoustic mirrors” were created out of red, black and green t-shirts cast in resin. The three installations are set high up within Morningside Park, on a landing best reached from 113th Street and Morningside Drive, a location for contemplation, conversation and planned performances. This clip was captured with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera and a Sony PCM M-!0 hand held recorder. The 21mm Super Lentar lens was mounted to a Metabones Speed Booster. A 5 stop ND filter was used on several shots to allow a large iris.

We see a man's mental breakdown and anguish as he suffers from a loss he may or may not be responsible for.

Growing up, I'd certainly dealt with my fair share of bullying, as I'm sure most everyone has, but I'd always wondered what was at the heart of it. I was burdened by it. As an adult, I still am. Very simply, how can people be so unkind? The prospect of seeking an answer via filmmaking was incredibly enticing. Again, I was hooked. In early 2015, writer/director/actor Ashley Shade shared her insightful play, "Catch," with me, and described a hugely ambitious educational campaign that would surround it. Her aim is to create a nationwide program designed to put teachers and students, young and old, bullies and bullied in the same space, eye-to-eye, in the hopes that digging deep will unearth a well of empathy and understanding.
