Inspired by art of the old masters, we tried to use fashion film as a canvas on which we paint scenes from the lives of women who lost their children. Sadness and pain. Pieta.

The fashion film PIETA was created for the progressive Czech clothing brand ODIVI. The opulent FW18 collection, inspired by street culture and hip-hop aesthetics, blends with fragile poetry. Both of these, to a certain extent, contradictory tendencies create a captivating atmosphere balancing on the edge of a great artistic gesture and a consumer kitsch. As part of a voluntary creative restraint, the whole video is shot exclusively on the Samsung S9 mobile phone without any additional accessories.

I took science and film classes during the summer, I worked hard to keep good grades, I did everything I thought will get me closer to my dream. But at 17 my parents divorced due to my mother mental illness, and one day I had no father, no house, no money, a very sick mother, and a small brother and sister that were looking up to me. For years we lived with friends, and relatives, and after a long list of mistakes, I reached bottom. I was homeless and broken. But God, the Universe, call it whatever you want, put people in my path that were able to see who could I become. I met the most beautiful human being, my wife, who showed me and taught me how to dream again. We came to this country 20 years ago, and now we have 3 amazing kids. After a decade of working in the animation and VFX industry I've decided to dive into live action filmmaking. The whole cast and crew consisted of me and my wife Agata Szczepanska. It was especially challenging to have both of us on the screen. Most shots were shot one a Sony a6500 with 18-105 f/4 on a Zhiyun-Tech Crane v2 Gimbal. All shots inside the car and few additional closeups shot with a Sony a7SII with FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM lens. Additionally I used a RØDE VideoMic Pro and a shoulder rig. Edited on Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Music (Musicbed.com): Heritage by Quinn Erwin. Sound Design by Ben Sanders.
