Texas A&M College of Nursing Promo

Up until a few ago, all that I knew about nurses was that they were nice people that worked in hospitals. Because I dislike nothing more than getting sick or injured I actively avoided hospitals, and thereby most nurses. This all changed when Texas A&M University's College of Nursing reached out to me about filming a promotional video showing why nurses are awesome, and more importantly, why Aggie nurses are the absolute best. Since both my wife and I are Aggies, of course we jumped at the chance to revisit College Station, eat tacos at Fuego, and film something special for the College of Nursing. My fears of hospitals were put aside as we filmed nurses in training, forensic nurses, nurse classes, and even a flight nurse. Which means, you guessed it, I got to fly in a helicopter - EASILY one of the coolest things I've ever done. Throughout it all, the students at the College of Nursing impressed both of us with their character, heart, and health knowledge. I'm not saying I want t

The Elmwood Fund

For over 100 years, girls in green have walked through the doors of this school and were inspired to learn. This is where they have learned to write, to add and subtract, to sing, dance and act, to shoot a foul shot and serve an ace. This is where they have learned to formulate an argument, develop a hypothesis and come to a conclusion. They’ve learned about friendship, about respect and about good citizenship. Inside these walls, they’ve learned how to learn, how to be heard, and how to feel good about themselves. None of this is possible without the community that surrounds and supports this special place. The community that has made these girls their first priority; that invested and believed in them. The community that ensures our girls continue to enjoy an unrivalled educational experience here at Elmwood. Follow in the footsteps of those who have demonstrated their belief in Elmwood, its mission and the promise of every Elmwood girl with a gift to the Elmwood Fund.

The Importance of Water

This music video was created to promote water-saving technologies used in the two local communities in Kazakhstan. The language of the video is Russian. The text on the screen is informing the audience about the impact that usage of water saving technologies has on the life of people that live in the Kostanay city and the vilage Arnasay. The song was written and performed by my team of musicians in order to make this video to be more emotional. While color grading I decided to use several film stocks instead of only one. Particularly, I used FJ H160s Pro, FJ H400 Pro, and KD 5207 Vis3 for the Sony footage of the kids singing in school.

The Land I Was Born On

The Land I Was Born On: “When you call yourself an Indian or a Muslim or a Christian or a European, or anything else, you are being violent. Do you see why it is violent? Because you are separating yourself from the rest of mankind. When you separate yourself by belief, by nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence. So a man who is seeking to understand violence does not belong to any country, to any religion, to any political party or partial system; he is concerned with the total understanding of mankind.” - Jiddu Krishnamurti Shot in Dharavi, Mumbai - one of the largest slums in the world by Composer / Film Maker Niraj Chag. The Most Haunted Island in the World

Poveglia has had a VERY tumultuous history. Its first residents arrived in 421 AD after trying to escape the barbaric invasions of Venice and around the 9th century, the tiny island became densely populated and grew in importance. It later became the turf on which many wars were fought against the barbarians and while most were won, Poveglia's residents had to be permanently displaced in 1379 by the Venician government so it could fortify and use the island to counter the attacks of the Genoans. When the bubonic plague hit Venice in 1348, Lazzarettos (quarantine centers) were established on many small islands including Poveglia to try to contain the pandemic. The Black Death revisited Venice in 1462, 1485, 1506, 1575-1577, and 1629-1631. The 1629-1631 outbreak ended up being the deadliest with an estimated 80,000 deaths in just seventeen months. The islands surrounding Venice were becoming dump sites where victims were thrown into grave pits. Those who simply displayed symptoms didn't

Tokyo Aglow

- Images and Music by Justin Tierney - Tokyo Aglow is a time-lapse tour of the Japanese capital by road and rail. An automated monorail flows through Odaiba and arrives downtown. A taxi whips to converging clusters of crowds in Shibuya. Scores surge and stream, tangle and scramble. Weaving and knotting, the masses of people rhythmically engage with the machinery of modern life. Japanese inspired chords underpin the music of the piano. Trombone, trumpet and violin map to the patterns recurrent and emergent. Crosswalk chimes, chirps and cuckoos echo into the night. - - - The time-lapses were shot in raw (with a 5D Mark III and a Sony A7s) developed in Lightroom, edited and color graded with the help of FilmConvert in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. I composed the music at the piano with paper and pencil, input it into Finale 2014, recorded the music into Pro Tools in two separate recording sessions, processed the field recording in Ableton and Max MSP, and executed the final edits in Adob
