This is the true story of Johannes and Luise Honnens of Bremerhaven, Germany. They were a young couple separated by the war. Their only daughter, Anke, was only 8 months old when her father was killed. She grew up in America without ever knowing her father. It wasn't until his letters written from the front lines resurfaced 75 years later before the family learned the truth about their grandfather - a secret his only daughter died without knowing.

after spending a lot of time during my career in Film to tape sessions i must say: some of those looks come really close to the feel of 35" film.
Hope you enjoy my little vignette.

Poor Cindi Mayweather wants to connect with people, but no matter how hard she tries, she simply cannot! She is more comfortable saying hi to a dog than a human, and spends all her time with plants. She so desperately wants to find a genuine human bond, but despite seemingly searching in all the right places and using all the right social media avenues, listening to the right songs and watching the right movies, she can never seem to establish such a connection. Join Cindy on a genre-bending, soul-crushing, adventure to find out why!
By Alex CampbellThe goal for this short promotional video for Car Star was to attract skilled workers to the small town of St Stephen New Brunswick. The intent was to capture the "vibe" of this beautiful place and to challenge some of the stereotypes people might have about small town Atlantic Canada. The film is meant to feel more like a travelogue than a corporate video. The aesthetic is simple and "rootsy". The FJ SuperX 400 film stock from FilmConvert leant itself perfectly.

By Shaun HodsonCentral Boarding Academy (CBA) is an English immersion and college preparatory program for international students who want to study at private schools in the U.S. They reached out to us to tell their story because they wanted a film to premier in China that would show parents all the great work they're doing in Oshkosh, WI. CBA's students attend academically challenging classes with American students, participate in after school activities, and live in the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UWO) campus dormitory where they have group tutors whom help expand their knowledge in the evening. We had one main goal for this video: to show a "worldly" view. By traveling with the students on their adventures through Chicago — we were able to accomplish that.

By wilfredoMy brother bought this sweet Chevrolet Impala from 1971 a while back and ever since we wanted to make a video with it. It's such a beautiful car, that you just have to do something with on film.
We're playing with the idea of creating a longer narrative project with a story and I wanted to test out some shots/styles, mainly driving shots from the outside.
I sort of missed the first wave of the Film Convert hype, but I just bought the Plugin for FCP X and it is really lovely. It takes the Sony FS100 digital look completely out of the image and makes it very organic. I've been playing with different looks, but I quite like the one in this video (Details at the end).
I used the fabulous F&V Lighting Z180s to light my brother inside the car. I used the diffusion filter with the CTO to create a warm hair light and just added some fill from the front to expose him more against the background.
For these shots and the edit, I am rather inspired by the "Supe

By Kyle LoweOne of the most rewarding and honoring parts of being a wedding filmmaker is when you are hired again and again to film for a family. After capturing her sister’s wedding several years ago and then multiple family functions through the years - Christina and her lovely family brought us back - this time to New York City and the grand-famous Cipriani Wall Street. Teaming up with my lovely and talented wife Vanessa Joy of Vanessa Joy Photography made this a double-treat and twice as nice. I think it’s safe to say that Christina’s father Mario brings the emotion to new heights in this theatrical trailer.

"In the the 1920s the movies were still relatively young, and an evolving modernist aesthetic embraced all things new, sleek, fast, and urban. Not surprisingly, a common focus of the cinematic avant-garde during this era was on the power, and excitement of cities. In both Europe and the US, a small genre of films that became know as 'city symphonies' attempted to capture the spirit, uniqueness, and poetry of a city by assembling images of everyday life in that city. These early films and their offsprings often utilized what film historian Bill Nichols has termed the 'poetic mode' of documentary film production--an attempt to move away from the 'objective' reality of a given situation or people in order to grasp at an inner 'truth' that can only be conveyed by poetical manipulations of mood, tone, time,

By Tristan Jason BarrocksThis is a short film I shot with some of my closest friends, collectively temporarily known as VSF Films.
It was all of our first short film. Hopefully there will be more in the future.
We are making an extended version of this film, since we had a 5min time constraint.
We filmed it on my 60d and used a 50 1.2L, 24-70 2.8L, a 50 1.8 for the dream sequence to do some lens whacking with, and a Rokinon 16mm.
We used a DIY slider made by my friend Brandon (audio dude for the film) and a DIY jib made by my friend
Ethan. We also used a Flycam, Benro monopod, and spider rig. All the lighting was with these little photo lights Brandon has and whatever natural light we could use and bounce with reflectors.
We shot everything with the superflat picture profile, and magic latern for a closer 180degree shutter angle.
Graded in Final Cut X using Osirus LUT plug-in and Film Convert.
