This is a film for my family, The Deckers. Every Thanksgiving our family, all 23 of us, get together in Northern Pennsylvania and decorate my Grandparents house for the Christmas season. Their house is placed on a mountain side and is viewable from 81. At night it lights up the hill and is a sight for many people driving down the highway. People make the trip out just to see their house. Its always been a special part of my childhood and last year rather then helping with the lights I decided to film it all. I then sat down with my Poppy, Roland Decker, and recorded him telling me about how this all started, on my iPhone. As we all get older and life gets more hectic, looking back, I really cherish all the seasons where our whole family was able to gather together. This video is for them.

Poveglia has had a VERY tumultuous history. Its first residents arrived in 421 AD after trying to escape the barbaric invasions of Venice and around the 9th century, the tiny island became densely populated and grew in importance. It later became the turf on which many wars were fought against the barbarians and while most were won, Poveglia's residents had to be permanently displaced in 1379 by the Venician government so it could fortify and use the island to counter the attacks of the Genoans. When the bubonic plague hit Venice in 1348, Lazzarettos (quarantine centers) were established on many small islands including Poveglia to try to contain the pandemic. The Black Death revisited Venice in 1462, 1485, 1506, 1575-1577, and 1629-1631. The 1629-1631 outbreak ended up being the deadliest with an estimated 80,000 deaths in just seventeen months. Living in the foster system has made her tough but after being abused by her foster father she was left feeling helpless and alone. On her 16th birthday she receives a mysterious gift. A key to a storage unit that contains the one thing she never expected to find, a 1998 Jeep Wrangler. The same make and model her birth mother owned before she died. Where did this Jeep come from? Why is it here? TJ and her friends take the Jeep to seek out answers to its origin and its mysterious appearance in her life.
