Submission for Film Converts 2013 competition
By Tommy DavisTime is never a luxury, rather it's a constant reminder that we just do what we love and believe in ourselves from the beginning. For Amanda Siobhan, her world revolves around her passions - art, acting and living a full life. This narrative documentary focuses not on simply who she is and what her hobbies are, no...more importantly it's about her message; believing in yourself and allowing the little voice inside of you that's been telling you to believe in yourself to be heard. By KushagraThis is a freshly color corrected and slightly edited version of a film I did 5 years ago. I used Premiere Pro CC and FilmConvert.
The story takes place in India, with a group of women who are training to become midwives. This film shows snippets of a typical day at a maternity hospital.
This is my first film, made in documentary style as a promo for YWAM Perth's healthcare schools and ministries. Shot mostly with a Canon 7D though there are a few a 5D MK II shots as well.

There’s a lot of prejudice about pole dance, but through the words of the italian instructor Valentina Venditti we’ll discover what’s really behind this discipline: training, study and sacrifice. We'll also understand how pole dance can be a cure-all both for body and soul. I produced this mini doc to take part at ‘My Rode Reel 2017’ competition but also to measure myself with something totally unknown to me. By Michelangelo TorresIt's only when you are flying above it that you realize how incredible the Earth really is. Moments in time that create new understandings. Moments that no one can take away from you. Nature is truly remarkable and can serve a form of inspiration like nothing else on this planet.

By Naude HeunisIf you care for someone with Alzheimer's disease or dementia, you’re dealing with the loss of a person you loved while you also come to terms with the person that remains. Loving that new person by letting them have their space and dignity is perhaps the hardest and best thing that you can do. This is for my dad - his past, present and future versions.

By Ian Morrisangela venarchik is a ceramic artist living on lake michigan in chicago. her work is minimal and neat, placing an emphasis on form and function rather than image or decoration. mainly inspired by the landscape of the prairie state and the great lakes, the wide-open spaces of the plains are expressed through clean and minimal design. she works in a color palette that reflects golden native grasses, stormy summer skies, snow-covered urban landscapes and the saturated blues of lake michigan. each piece carries a deep, clear sense of place. angela's work is a celebration of design, craftsmanship & midwestern life. we spent two days with angela, documenting her processes and bringing those back to the places in which the work was inspired.

By Tim MandersIt’s been 14 years since I last visited my homeland of Trinidad. A lot has changed since then. I didn’t have much time during my 3 day visit starting late Boxing day evening 2015 but I wanted to catch a flavour, a taste of Trinidad. I wanted to give a taste of some of my favourite food and the places that helped shape my memories... Until the next time. Places: Trinidad, Port of Spain, Mayaro, Guayaguare, Petit Valley, Maracus Bay, Las Cuevas, San Fernando. The music is from an ongoing Production Library project with Trinidadian pan man Kyron Akal also based in London. By Jorge GomezDoomadgee women look beyond themselves, rekindling a sense of purpose by helping Papua New Guinean women in extreme poverty. This documentary was a journey of exploration for the heart of our story, Veronica. This story lives in two locations, Doomadgee, Australia, a remote indigenous community and Mabaduan, Papua New Guinea, an even more remote coastal community. Our team consisted of an international team (director from USA, DP & Cinematographer from Canada), while our subjects were from a remote indigenous community in the far north west Queensland, Australia and our travel took us to an incredibly remote village in Papua New Guinea. Film Convert was our primary tool for grading and added the essential emotional theme.
By FischSince getting this baby 3 months ago I keep it in a small backpack I try to take with me when I’m riding my bike or traveling the world.
Love the full frame sensor, the retro look, the great viewfinder (let’s you pretend you are shooting stills) S-log and the crazy ISO numbers you can now dare to use.
I shot mostly handheld but used a rhino slider on few shots.

By Jian Zhi ZhangAb Initio ("from the beginning") is a short music-dance film that examines origin myths: personal narratives, our ideas of home, our happy places, the stories we tell ourselves about where we come from, and the ways these stories guide our movements through the world around us. It takes constant devotion and upkeep to believe in something, and like any other deeply-held beliefs, our origin stories can be a source of conflict when they come into dissonance with our surroundings and our experiences. Sometimes we fight them, sometimes we flee from them, but ultimately our personal mythologies are the bridge that connects our pasts with our futures. In between is the present, where we are both the author and the protagonist of our own stories.
