Pengerupukan day takes place every 420 days, which is on the ninth dark moon of Bali’s lunar calendar. It is a day when every village on Bali will do sacrification rituals to neutralize the negative energy. It usually takes place on the main crossroad of the village which is believed to be the zero spot of the balance. The negative energy which is represented as Evil will be invited and assembled, the youths will create a figure of evil or giants for months as the negative energy symbol. They will carry the figure of evil or giants around the village to invite all negative to the centre of rituals where they will be peaced or be neutralized in order to not disturb the peacefulness of the people’s life. The Pengerupukan is done one day before the Saka new year or The Silent Day where Balinese people do four prohibitions to appreciate the nature as well as to do self-control for one day (24 hours) starting from 6 am to 6 am of the next day. This was a fun project filmed in my home garage, filmed all on black with some very inexpensive light set-ups. Initially this music video was going to be very different - black & white with cymatic footage I’d filmed the day after comped and overlaid. Playing around with the initial cymatic footage i’d filmed for their band photo i’d found a more interesting creative using simple backwards light particles which for the band conveyed the idea of ‘letting go to begin again’. With only 2x weeks and 80+ effects shots this was a real challenge for just one person but it wouldn’t of looked as great without filmconvert!

My little girls big screen debut. Shot on the Canon T2i, added some flavour with Adobe After Effects, Magic Bullet, Film Convert, Gorilla Grain, then cut with Premiere.

This piece of video is stuffed full of bacon and tasty snowboarding, baked together with fabulous landscapes and finally served on your dinner plate with a nice pale ale. A good meal that will make your mind travel back to winter. You could also call this a full part by the Swedish boarder Johan Rosen but thats way more boring.

Bjørn, a retired geophysicist of the Norwegian Mapping Authority, had an idea to fix an anomaly along the border between Norway and Finland, and give Finland what would be its tallest mountain for it’s 100th birthday. Considering the tumultuous history of international boundaries, this would be an unprecedented show of kindness between countries. But how exactly does one give away a mountain?
